The New Year is Here! This year, we want to be better at planning, so we started our research and compilation on the list of pet holidays and Hooman holidays in 2024. We want to use it as a guide for our content planning & promotion planning. The research overwhelmed us, there are so many holidays and celebrations!!! We tried our best to list as many pet holidays as we could and included the main hooman holidays and some fun hooman celebrations. We also hyperlinked some resources about the holiday origins the best we can find on the mass web. Basically “Every day can be a CELEBRATION with your pets”. If you are just casually curious about what holidays you can celebrate with your pets, with this list, almost every day can be celebratory. Just save this list and use it as a reference when you need some cheering up or extra activities to treat your pets & yourselves. 

The main reason we compiled this list is to help our content planning process. If you have a pet business or manage pet accounts for your beloved pets, here are 4 tips on how to use this list for your content:

1. The list is so long. Don’t get overwhelmed and hot-headed because you don’t need all of them, even most of them. Holidays and celebrations can easily become overdone. And they can be spammy if you do a lot of them. So take a deep breath, save this list, and plan and pick your holidays weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly depending on how you pre-plan your content. If this long list overwhelms you, subscribe to our newsletter or follow us on Instagram @hugloveproduct, we announce upcoming holidays in our weekly newsletters and share them in our story on Mondays.
2. When picking which holidays to celebrate or use in your content, try to pick the ones that are tailored to your business or pet account niche. For example, we don’t currently have products related to pet walks or provide pet walking services, so we probably don’t need to feature “Take a Walk in the Park Day”, since every post should have a true purpose or point to it. Relate the holidays/celebrations to one or more of the following: your expertise on a topic; your services or products; pure entertainment that matches your branding or pet, or sharing more about you and/or your team. Stick to the ones that bring up the conversation of what you do, who you serve, and what your message promotes.
3. Always include a call-to-action (CTA). Don’t hesitate to ask your audience to take some sort of action, whether it's to like your photo on social media, respond via a comment, share the post, book with you, head to your website, read your blog, share a photo, etc. It may feel sale-sy, but remember your loyal audience wants to help you grow, so provide them some guidance. And for new audiences, it would be the first time they see your content, so don’t be afraid to be a little redundant. 
4. Make sure your CTA has a purpose! Don’t just pick an action for the heck of it. Be sure to vary it up and make your CTA the clear next action depending on the content of the post. That brings the importance of planning your content, so you can get a larger picture of content. Not to mention, pre-planning is way more organized and less stressful. However, pre-planning doesn’t mean you can schedule it and forget about it, you still need to keep an eye out, and sometimes you may need to tweak little things or make some new content along the way.
